Why the Jets Could Win

Week 4 was a turning point for this Jets team. They pulled out an overtime win against a very real Titans team. This momentum could easily carry over into Week 5. This young roster is still working out the kinks but having gotten that first win, the second one can't be far behind.

Furthermore, the Jets have a very favorable matchup against the Falcons. Atlanta has one of the worst defenses in the league and give up nearly 400 yards of offense per game. If the Jets can take advantage of this lackluster defense then they stand a very real chance of beating the Falcons.

Lastly, let's talk about Zach Wilson. Wilson has definitely had his struggles, which is to be expected, but is coming off his best performance as a pro. The rookie quarterback threw for nearly 300 yards, 2 touchdowns, and an interception against the Titans. He may not be spectacular, but he is definitely trending in the right direction.

Things could be coming together for this Jets team. A favorable matchup in London with a quarterback who is gaining momentum could be enough to get them another win.

Why the Falcons Could Win

In spite of their record, this Falcons team still has an offense that can do damage. They put up 30 in a close loss to the Washington Football Team in Week 4. While their defense might be lacking, the Atlanta offense has shown flashes.

Matt Ryan has quietly had a very solid season. In Week 4, he threw for nearly 400 yards and 4 touchdowns. The vet has shown that he can still sling the football. He has had to play from behind a lot this season, but that could change this week. The Jets have had an unimpressive 2021 and Atlanta could actually find themselves playing with the lead. If this is the case, Matt Ryan will be able to do what he does best which is control game speed and get a win.

Atlanta's offensive weapons have been showing out in recent games. Everyone knows that Calvin Ridley is a true wide receiver one. After an impressive 2020 he has had to face top defenders in 2021. This opened the door for other members of the offense to get involved. Cordarrelle Patterson showed that he still can impact games. With over 100 scrimmage yards and 3 touchdowns against the Washington Football Team, the vet showed he should not be overlooked.

The main questions around Atlanta is with the defense. With a favorable matchup against the Jets, if they can stop Zach Wilson then the Falcons should get their second win of the season.

Final Jets-Falcons Prediction & Pick

Neither of these teams have had an impressive 2021 so far. But that makes for what should be a really interesting game. These are two teams that should be able to challenge each other. They both have their flaws and their strengths. The Jets are a much more inexperienced team and betting against a rookie quarterback is not a mistake. The Falcons have a solid offense. The Atlanta defense has a very favorable matchup against Zach Wilson and should be able to hold off a weak Jets offense. With that, you should pick Atlanta to win and cover.

FINAL PICK: Atlanta Falcons -3 (-109)
