We get a rematch of Super Bowl LII in Week 2 of the preseason. While it won't be filled with the excitement and drama from the teams' meeting in February 2018, it will be another opportunity for each team to showcase their young talent as the season approaches. It’s time to continue our NFL odds series and make a Patriots-Eagles prediction and pick.

Here’s how the bookmakers have set the Patriots-Eagles odds and lines for the matchup.

Why The Patriots Could Win

In Week 1, the Patriots played three quarterbacks over the course of their 22-13 win over Washington. Rookie Mac Jones received the most snaps of the trio, completing 13 of 19 passes for 87 yards. It was an impressive showing for the former Alabama gunslinger, who is competing with veteran Cam Newton for the starting role. Out of their three QB's, the Pats are likely most interested in seeing how Jones can manage a game and call plays, as both Hoyer and Newton have been around the league enough years by now. Given that Jones played well in his first professional game last week, expect the Patriots to put Jones back under center quite often against Washington. Jones comes into this game with a great deal of self motivation too, as he is out to prove he's capable of starting for the Patriots in Week 1 of the regular season.

In their Week 1 game against the Steelers, the Eagles defense was rather lackluster against a Steelers trio that included Dwayne Haskins and Mason Rudolph. Given that the Jones/Newton combo is significantly better than Haskins/Rudolph (both whom have mostly struggled in NFL action), this group of Eagles backups (and some starters) likely will allow more points than the 24 they allowed to Pittsburgh.

Why The Eagles Could Win

It seems increasingly likely that Jalen Hurts will be the Eagles starting quarterback come Week 1 of the regular season. Given that he threw just seven passes in the Eagles preseason opener, expect Hurts to get a similar amount of reps, or even less, in this contest against the Pats. Joe Flacco, who went 10 for 17 in the opener, seems slated to get the bulk of snaps in this Week 2 game. The question remains- is Joe Flacco elite for winning the Super Bowl with the Ravens in 2013? Over the past several years, Flacco has played for multiple teams as a sub-par, sometimes backup quarterback, but he played very well last week against the black & gold. Passing for 178 yards and throwing a touchdown, Flacco reminded fans why he was one of the NFL's best less than ten years ago. Now, he still serves as a great veteran presence on the Eagles, and especially can carve out a great role as a mentor for Jalen Hurts.

Since Flacco will in all likelihood return to the bench once the regular season begins, maybe he has one or two last epic performances under his belt while he still gets the majority of snaps in the preseason. If Pats fans know one thing about the Eagles, it's that the most unlikely of quarterbacks can defeat them unexpectedly (we're thinking of you, Philadelphia legend Nick Foles).

Preseason football is often a toss up. But in this matchup of veteran Super Bowl champion vs. Heisman-finalist quarterback, the veteran may get a last laugh before stepping into the backup veteran role once again.

Final Patriots-Eagles Prediction & Pick

As was just mentioned, preseason games are very difficult to gauge. But the biggest quarterback battle in this game falls on the side of New England, where Mac Jones is already making a name for himself with his impressive performance in Week 1. The Eagles are mostly already set on Hurts, while Joe Flacco is just getting some extra reps in with nothing much to prove at this point in his career. If Mac Jones gets off to a hot start in this game and can put the Patriots up by a score or two early, expect the rest of the game to be a battle between the third/fourth stringers on each roster – at which point, I don't see the Eagles making any type of serious comeback.

FINAL PATRIOTS-EAGLES PICK: Patriots -1 1/2 (-110)
