Even Eric Bieniemy can see this: Deshaun Watson is not happy with how the Houston Texans have handled the search for a new head coach, in part due to help from Patrick Mahomes.

Reports have surfaced that Mahomes suggested current Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy as a good option for the next Texans head coach, but the organization has refused to interview him, despite the organization saying Watson would have a large role in helping the organization find their next head coach.

This is not a good sign for the relationship between Watson and the Texans.

Already frustrated due to how the relationship with former head coach Bill O'Brien ended, including losing his primary target DeAndre Hopkins, this has been a very trying season for Watson and his relationship with the Texans.

The seeming betrayal by the organization towards Watson may be the last straw for the quarterback. While he has not made any indication of wanting to be traded, if the Texans' front office continues to betray his trust his loyalty to the team may be fleeting.

The Texans finished the 2020-2021 season with a record of 4-12. This is the first time Watson has experienced a losing season since his rookie season in 2017, in which he only played half the season due to a torn ACL cutting his season short. The last two seasons have resulted in AFC South division championships, which Watson has been a big factor in.

As seen in other organizations, most notably with the Green Bay Packers in recent years, if the quarterback and head coach are not on the same page it causes problems within the team and failure on the field. The Texans don't seem to be aware of the damage they are doing to a generational talent at football's most important position.

The Texans are rapidly gaining a bad reputation in the NFL – not as bad as the New York Jets, but they're certainly moving in the wrong direction.
