Reports suggest that both the Oakland Raiders and Green Bay Packers were among the teams that recently tried to claim newly-signed Arizona Cardinals safety D.J. Swearinger.

The former South Carolina star was released by Washington after being overly critical of the defensive playcalling in the Week 16 loss to the Tennessee Titans, which officially eliminated the Redskins from playoff contention.

However, he was quickly scooped up by the Cardinals, with Swearinger being no stranger to the team after having a huge season in Arizona in 2016.

But, it sounds like the Cardinals weren't the only team that wanted to add Swearinger to the roster, according to ESPN's Field Yates:

It would make sense that both the Raiders and Packers would want to add help in the secondary considering the struggles for the two teams this season.

Of course, the Cardinals have had their own struggles in winning just three games, and the regular season finale against the Seattle Seahawks doesn't mean a whole lot for the struggling franchise.

This will undoubtedly be a crucial offseason for the Cardinals, as there have been plenty of rumors surrounding first-year head coach Steve Wilks possibly being fired after the season.

And with Arizona needing to likely make upgrades at a lot of key positions, it's only going to add even more pressure on the front office to get the right people in place so that this team can get back on track.

As for this weekend's matchup, the Seahawks captured a 20-17 win in the previous meeting between the teams this season.
