The San Francisco 49ers capped off their mandatory minicamp schedule on Thursday, and among the most-talked-about players who shined on the field this past week was Drake Jackson.

The 49ers’ second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft featured in defensive drills with the talents such as Nick Bosa, which came after he also attended the team’s rookie minicamp and OTAs. The former USC defensive end once again touched base with the 49ers coaching staff as well.

With what Bosa has seen so far from Jackson in the offseason, he has already been quite impressed.

“He’s super talented,” Bosa said during a press conference on Thursday. “He does things out there that I definitely couldn’t do as a rookie, just the way he moves. He’s definitely got some impressive stuff about him, but it’s only been two days where I’ve seen him.”

As per the NFL’s mandatory minicamp regulations, Jackson and the rest of the 49ers did not take part in live contact drills. Still, Bosa had a front-row seat to watch the three-time second-team All-Pac 12 selection showcase his potential to be a talent who can exert a keen impact at the line of scrimmage.

“Just his bend and his mobility that young,” Bosa said. “I think his gymnastics background, he just could bend really well. And that’s something I had to improve on as my career’s gone on as I’ve trained with my brother and our trainer. But yeah, he’s just got it naturally.

“So, if he could keep building and keep getting better it’ll be pretty scary.”

Jackson’s sheer mobility as a pass rusher was on display in what turned out to be his final campaign at USC, where he recorded 5.0 sacks and eight tackles for loss. Now in San Francisco, he is slated to provide much-needed versatility to the team’s front seven unit.
