Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone says backup point guard Isaiah Thomas is moving along in his rehab, but there is still no timetable for his return to the court, via Harrison Wind of BSN Denver.

Thomas, 29, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right hip on March 28.

Isaiah Thomas signed a one-year, $2 million deal with the Nuggets in July. He began last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Thomas only played in 14 games with the Cavs before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers at the February trade deadline. The guard shot just 36.1 percent from the floor and averaged 14.7 points and 4.5 assists in 27.1 minutes per game for Cleveland. He was one of six Cavs traded in February at the deadline.

With the Lakers, Thomas played a little better, posting 15.6 points and 5.0 assists in 17 games. Malone coached Thomas with the Sacramento Kings. The two have a very strong relationship, and Thomas believes Malone will use him correctly and get the best out of him on the floor.

Thomas will be the primary backup to Jamal Murray at the point guard position for the Nuggets. He's not the same player he was when he was an All-NBA performer with the Boston Celtics. However, Thomas can still score in bunches and figures to get good looks playing for a coach that he has a rapport with.
