Michael Porter Jr. of the Denver Nuggets may not be the best player in the recently concluded draft, but he is definitely the most intriguing prospect. Reports say that Porter's rehabilitation is steadily progressing, though no definite timetable is set for his return.

Nick Kosmider of The Athletic tweeted out this exciting development for Nuggets fans.

“Connelly said Michael Porter Jr.’s rehab is progressing well, but there is no timeline on his return to action. Nuggets still preaching conservative approach. Also added that Jared Vanderbilt is getting “closer,” but there’s no firm timeline for the second-round pick.”

The 6-foot-10 all-around small forward was predicted as the consensus first overall pick coming into his freshman season with the Missouri Tigers. But a lingering back injury dropped his draft stock, almost falling out of lottery projections. The Nuggets snatched him with their 15th pick, obviously intrigued with his oozing potential.

Julian Applebome of DraftExpress wrote about Porter's unique upside.

“Porter is a fluid and long athlete, who looks very comfortable running the floor in transition, getting out in space, and finishing above the rim, as demonstrated with some highlight reel finishes throughout the tournament. Porter can impact the game in the half court as well, knocking down shots from beyond the arc, as well as showing nice touch on one and two dribble pull ups and runners.”

His length, speed, shooting and athleticism at the forward position are much-needed in today's pace-and-space offense. Despite his injury, Porter has never lost confidence in what he can do and even declared himself as the best player in the recent draft.

If he grows into the great player that he projects himself to become, the Nuggets would boast one of the most versatile small-ball lineups the league has seen.
