The Denver Nuggets are in the middle of an intense playoff chase, with positioning in the western conference on the line. The biggest reason for the team's success once again has been the play of Nuggets center Nikola Jokic. The reigning league MVP is among those talked about in line to win the award this year. But if this statistic cannot capture the trophy alone, who knows what will.

Jokic is the first player in the last 50 years, yes 50 years, to be in the top 10 in points per game, rebounds per game, assists per game and field goal percentage. That is absolutely absurd that one player can be as good as almost anyone in the league at nearly everything offensively.

A lot of people currently feel as though Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid are the three front-runners for the award. Each player has had their moments this season. Most recently, the Bucks superstar had the game-winning block against Embiid's 76ers.

Jokic has the Denver Nuggets sitting in the fifth seed in the western conference. They are two games behind the Dallas Mavericks for home court advantage in the first round. However, the Nuggets are also only two games ahead of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the seventh seed. That spot means you drop into the play-in tournament.

If the Nuggets cannot improve upon their standings, that might be what costs Jokic back-to-back MVP's. Both Antetokounmpo and Embiid have their teams battling for the top seed in the eastern conference.
