After securing an important Game 1 win in the first round of the playoffs against the Utah Jazz, the Denver Nuggets received some bad news about Will Barton.

According to Mike Singer of The Denver Post, Barton will remain out indefinitely due to his sore knee, a setback that just continues to linger in the NBA bubble.

The 29-year-old Will Barton is yet to play for the Nuggets in the Disney bubble, as he last suited up for the team back in March — just before the coronavirus forced the NBA to suspend games.

Nuggets head coach Mike Malone was still at least a bit optimistic regarding Barton's eventual return when he spoke to reporters last July, though he didn't really provide much of an update about Barton's condition..

“He’s continued to keep on working on his rehab, getting with our training staff and trying to integrate himself back into the lineup and into the rotation,” Malone said, via The Denver Post.

Barton is averaging 15.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists for the Nuggets this 2019-20 season. He's a key part of their starting rotation, as he does not only bring scoring but also energy and intensity on the defensive end of the floor.

The Nuggets and Jazz will pick things up again on Wednesday afternoon, with Utah looking to even the opening round Western Conference clash at one game apiece.
