The Indiana Pacers are in full-blown meltdown mode.

Earlier in the week, a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski came out suggesting Pacers head coach Nate Bjorkgren is on the hot seat just one season into his tenure. The report states Bjorkgren has had issues communicating with players and staff.

Then on Wednesday night, assistant coach Greg Foster had to be physically restrained after losing his cool with center Goga Bitadze during a truly heinous 104-93 loss to the Sacramento Kings. The blowup and pathetic performance on the court resulted in some lengthy discussions in the locker room after the game.

Bjorkgren finally emerged after a while and took responsibility for the mess, per ESPN:

“You know I don’t make excuses for things,” he told reporters before the game. “I’m a young coach. I’m learning, I’m growing and I’m trying to be better. This is on me. I’m the head coach and fingers should be pointed at me. I love coaching this team and the relationships with these coaches and players, I've just got to keep getting better.”

It's good that Bjorkgren is pointing the finger at himself and not others, but it doesn't change the fact that he may have lost the team already. Also, if the Pacers aren't careful, they could potentially crumble so much they fall out of a spot in the play-in tournament. They're now just 30-35 on the season and a putrid 11-20 at home.

The remaining schedule isn't exactly easy, and Indiana is dealing with key injuries. Bjorkgren's club was without Myles Turner, Malcolm Brogdon, T.J. Warren and Jeremy Lamb, among other players, on Wednesday night. The Pacers are 4-6 in their last 10 games and just recently gave up 154 points in a loss to the Washington Wizards. The only wins have come against bottom-feeders.

Indy is still in ninth place, but only a half-game up on Washington. The 11th-place Toronto Raptors are 3.5 games back, while the 12th-place Chicago Bulls are a full four games back. Perhaps the Pacers can keep that play-in spot because of that cushion, but they currently seem like a dead team walking regardless.

If Indy loses in the play-in round or totally falls apart and somehow misses out, what then? Do they can Bjorkgren after one season? Do they look to blow up the roster? Turner's name has been in trade rumors for a while, but Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis also saw their names thrown around before this past deadline.

Indiana is a talented club going through a brutal season. Maybe the franchise would just regroup and try to ride things out next season in a more normal campaign. Maybe they get some lottery luck to help them out.

But given the expectations, this season has been a total disaster for the Indiana Pacers. There could be big changes ahead.
