Following the Green Bay Packers' shutout 22-0 win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, there has been much scrutiny on the relationship between star quarterback Aaron Rodgers and head coach Mike McCarthy due to the criticism levied by the former two-time league MVP on offensive production.

Since then, McCarthy has voiced that he had concurred with Rodgers' harsh assessment of the offensive game plan. The 34-year-old has followed it up by stating that he has a “great relationship” with his head coach that has been fueled strong lines of communication with him, via Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk.

“We have a great relationship,” Rodgers said, via video from the Green Bay Press Gazette. “There’s always been great communication between us even if there are things that we need to talk about that are tough subjects. We’ve never had a problem finding time and talking. That’s the way it’s been for 10-plus years.

There doesn't appear to be any ill will or subliminal messaging from Rodgers toward McCarthy but him simply venting about his team's shortcoming offensively. Although the Packers posted 423 total offensive yards, there was much more that could have been done against a Bills' struggling defense averaging just 5.7 yards per play while getting in the red zone twice converting on two of those trips.

Rodgers had a productive game completing 22-of-40 passes for 298 yards with a touchdown and interception, but the team had difficulty moving the ball down the field consistently. These comments from Rodgers had shown that he has some high expectations for the offense to be a potent unit that can put up points on the board with the best teams in the league.

That said, the Packers will have the chance to take a step forward offensively in Week 5 on the road against the Detroit Lions.
