Throughout the preseason and training camp, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been heavily involved in all aspects leading up to the regular season.

However, Rodgers was not on the field for the final training camp practice and isn't expected to play in the preseason finale on Thursday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Aaron Rodgers (illness) is not at the final training camp practice. He's not expected to play in Thursday's exhibition finale. The three young QBs will get all the work.

There should be plenty of time for Rodgers to get over his illness well ahead of the season opener against the Chicago Bears. The fact that he isn't playing in the preseason finale should allow him to be well rested and physically prepared to go. The Packers are expected to lean heavily on Rodgers to once again leading the charge with his arm to help push them back into playoff contention after missing the postseason for the first time in nine years.

The 34-year-old has just played in one game in the preseason against the Pittsburgh Steelers where he completed 2-of-4 passes for 35 yards and a touchdown. His touchdown pass came on an impressive play as he was able to navigate in the pocket to avoid pressure while letting off an accurate throw in coverage to Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham for an eight-yard connection.

He hasn't been physically limited in any manner over the last few months that should bode well for him to be able to get back to playing at a high-level next season that could see him putting together a strong year that could see him contend for the NFL MVP award. The table is set for Rodgers to once again establish himself as being one of the top quarterbacks in the league.
