Ty Montgomery is by far the least popular person in Green Bay, Wisconsin today after a costly fumble that cost the Packers a chance to beat the undefeated Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon. With Aaron Rodgers set to get the football back, Montgomery made the decision to take the kickoff out of the end zone and proceeded to get trucked and fumbled the football away.

Since the play, fans have been calling for the Packers to release Montgomery and some have gone even further than that. Members of the Packers have even come out to call Montgomery selfish.

Tramon Williams, a veteran cornerback for the Packers, decided to come out and publicly defend the decision that Montgomery made to return the kick.

In a quote shared by Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Williams made his case for fans and the team to back Montgomery instead of crucifying him.

“I’ll tell you what: The people who said that, it’s unfortunate that they said that. That’s the reason they are anonymous and not said their name. If they want to say it, put their name by it. That’s them. Whoever that is, it is what it is. But we’re going to have Ty’s back. I know for a fact he didn’t do it selfishly. It may look that way, but he didn’t do it selfishly. I’ve been playing for a long time, and I’ve been in worse situations than he has.”

Michael Silver of NFL Media quoted one anonymous player with some strong thoughts about Montgomery.

“We’ve got Aaron Rodgers, the best I’ve ever seen, and you’re gonna take that risk? I mean, it’s ’12’! All you gotta do is give him the ball, and you know what’s gonna happen.”

No names have come out about the players or coaches that reportedly came out to bash Montgomery following the Packers' loss.

Green Bay will head to New England to take on the Patriots next Sunday night. Even though they did not win the matchup with the Rams, the Packers have plenty of positives to take into next week.
