The Green Bay Packers had both the 22nd and 28th pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft. They selected Quay Walker at 22 and Devonte Wyatt at 28.

Now, Wyatt is the first 2022 first-round pick to pen a deal with his new team. The defensive tackle signed a four-year, $12.86 million guaranteed deal with a $6.53 million signing bonus.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport tweeted the contract details Thursday morning.

Wyatt is now contractually a member of the Packers for the next four years. The selection was great for the Packers, a team with multiple spots to fill this offseason.

According to ESPN, Wyatt is expected to be a solid starter in his first year in Green Bay.

What will the 24-year-old bring to the Packers' defense?

Per his ESPN Pre-Draft analysis, Wyatt “quickly locates the ball and slips blocks rushing the passer and defending the run. He chases with good effort, has good range and always seems to be around the ball.” Wyatt was a key contributor to Georgia's defense, and he will fit right in in Green Bay.

Many questioned why the Packers didn't use their two early draft picks to select a wide receiver. Aaron Rodgers lost his main offensive target in Davante Adams when he joined the Las Vegas Raiders in March. The Packers waited until their third selection to pick up a potential Adams replacement, drafting Christian Watson 34th overall early in the second round.
