The Green Bay Packers have taken a cautious approach with key players in the preseason. They were able to welcome one of them back: running back Jamaal Williams.

Williams has not been able to get much work in throughout training camp due to a lingering hamstring injury. According to Wes Hodkiewicz of the team's official wesbite, he is now dressed and back at practice:

This is certainly a welcome sight for the Packers' offense. The timing of Williams' return should provide him with some time to find his footing over the final two preseason games. Regardless, their primary concern will be getting both of their running backs healthy for the start of the 2019 NFL season.

Williams is not the only one dealing with a hamstring issue. Running back Aaron Jones has also missed the first two preseason games while recovering from one of his own. Fortunately, it seems they can get back to establishing their potential 1-2 punch heading into the regular season.

Head coach Matt LaFleur has indicated that he would like to take some pressure off of quarterback Aaron Rodgers by going with a more balanced approach on offense. Jones is projected to emerge as the primary back if he can remain healthy. Regardless, he is poised to face some stiff competition from Williams and running back Dexter Williams for touches.

Green Bay will likely be looking to utilize as much versatility out of their backfield as possible. Williams will need to quickly get up to speed if he hopes to resume his role as the No. 2 option this season.
