It has been less than a week since the Green Bay Packers made the huge decision to part ways with head coach Mike McCarthy after 12-plus seasons with the organization.

This has quickly led to plenty of reaction around the league on both ends of the spectrum regarding the move. Among those most vocal about the decision is FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, who stated during an appearance on FS1's “The Herd with Colin Cowherd” on Friday that he believes McCarthy got a raw deal with how the entire situation was handled:

“I think there is a right way to do things in this league who deserve it and a wrong way. I believe this was the wrong way. I think sometimes people say that sometimes these relationships end and yeah it should've ended. We all saw it coming. He saw it coming. But the way it happened was wrong. Where, a guy like Tom Coughlin when the Giants knew they were going to move on. (They said) ‘Tom, how do you want to do this? Let's do this the right way.' ‘Andy Reid. How are we going to do this? We are going to mutually part ways.' Guys like Mike McCarthy deserve that.”

Glazer's stance is rooted in the belief that due to the amount of success McCarthy experienced during his tenure with the Packers, he deserved to be treated with more respect. In his 12 seasons at the helm, he helped guide the team to nine playoff appearances, four NFC Championship games, and a Super Bowl win.

Beyond that, McCarthy has been a stabilizing factor at the position for the organization for over the last decade while taking Green Bay to great heights in the process. He was also a big supporter toward giving quarterback Aaron Rodgers the chance to prove himself when Hall of Famer Brett Favre was going through his back-and-forth decision on retirement.

There was simply a better way to handle this situation that would have been better to allow him to finish out the rest of the 2018 season instead of cutting him loose with four more games left to play.
