On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers witnessed an injury to one of their starters. According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Ryan Wood, tight end Jimmy Graham injured his finger on a Deshone Kizer pass turned Darnell Savage pass breakup. He “at least jammed his finger,” according to Wood, and immediately ran into the Huston Center for treatment.

Luckily, the injury isn't too serious. ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports that Graham's finger will not require surgery. A big break for the Packers.

On Sunday, head coach Matt LaFleur said in his post-practice press conference:

“Yeah, he hurt his finger. I don’t know [the exact injury]. I just know he missed the rest of practice.”

General manager Brian Gutekist said in Monday's press conference, “I’m not going to talk about injuries, but I think we might’ve escaped one right there.”

Graham dealt with a broken thumb for a portion of the 2018 season, but he was activated for all 16 games and started in 12.

2019 is a big year for Graham, as he needs to prove his worth after signing a three-year, $30 million contract in the 2018 offseason. In 2018, he didn't quite live up to those expectations; tallying 55 receptions for 636 yards and two touchdowns on the year.

For his career, Graham has caught 611 balls for 7,436 yards and 71 touchdowns. He's a five-time Pro Bowler and a 2013 first-team All-Pro.

Luckily — if he stays healthy — 2019 maybe Graham's revival year, considering that LaFleur loves to implement the 1-2 personnel and favors using tight ends in his passing game.

With Graham not expected to have surgery, he can take advantage of that.
