The Green Bay Packers have themselves some camp competition. Veteran guard Lane Taylor is facing off against rookie second-round pick Elgton Jenkins for the starting left guard spot. This isn't great news for Taylor, but it comes as no surprise. Taylor summed this up well when speaking with Pro Football Talk, via Packers News.

“Obviously, it’s not the most exciting thing to ever hear in the world, but on the other hand, you’ve got to earn your spot. To tell you the truth, when it really comes down to it, you take all the emotions out of it and all of that stuff. You’ve got to earn your spot.”

Taylor, a former Oklahoma State Cowboy, has spent all six years of his career in Green Bay. He has started the last three years at guard but has never faced serious competition. When the Packers picked Jenkins, it was clear that he would push for a starting job. The former Mississippi State Bulldog spent his entire college career at center, but Corey Linsley is set to keep his job at the pivot position. This leaves the guard spots up for grabs. When Week 1 rolls around, expect to see Jenkins on the field, and either Taylor or right guard Billy Turner riding the bench.

The Green Bay offense was less than spectacular last year but has high expectations for 2019. With Aaron Rodgers running the show, anything less than a top-ten offense and a playoff berth would be a disappointment. Expect the offensive line to be no small part of this improvement.
