After their 35-11 loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday, the Green Bay Packers (7-9) continued to make major personnel changes when they reassigned Ted Thompson from his general manager position to a role to be determined within the organization.

The decision was announced on Monday by the team, as reported by reporter Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, in wake of the team's first losing season since 2008.

Thompson, who has been the team's general manager since 2005, drafted Aaron Rodgers late in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft but has been under heavy scrutiny for years by not being able to surround Rodgers with enough talent, especially on defense.

This is massive news for the Packers, who also fired defensive coordinator Dom Capers. According to another tweet from reporter Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Packers defensive line coach Mike Trgovac and inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley were also relieved of their duties on Monday as well.

For the vacant Green Bay general manager position, the team has four strong internal candidates in Russ Ball, Brian Gutekunst, Alonzo Highsmith and Eliot Wolf, according to Packers reporter Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

This 2017-18 regular season was certainly a wakeup call for the Packers, as the team has been notorious over the years for rarely making any big-name free agent signings. Big changes are coming soon, Cheeseheads.
