Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac will star in Panos Cosmatos’ vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Adam McKay is set to produce alongside Betsy Koch through their Hyperobject Industries production company. Isaac will also serve as producer with Gena Konstantinakos through their production company Mad Gene Media. The film is up for international sale at Cannes’ Marché du Film with XYZ Films handling the sale. Production is set to start later this year.

Cosmatos will direct from Andrew Kevin Walker’s script based on their own story. The director is known for the 2018 phantasmagorical movie Mandy starring Nicolas Cage. Meanwhile Walker penned the 1995 mystery crime drama Se7en, starring Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman.
Flesh of the Gods follows the story of married couple Raoul (Isaac) and Alex (Stewart) set in the glittering 1980s. Every night, they come down from their luxury skyscraper condo and head into Los Angeles. They bump into a mysterious woman and her hard-partying minions, the couple end up joining in their surreal and glamor-filled world filled with thrills and violence.
“Like Los Angeles itself Flesh of the Gods inhabits the liminal realm between fantasy and nightmare. Both propulsive and hypnotic, Flesh will take you on a hot rod joy ride deep into the glittering heart of hell,” Cosmatos said in a statement.
McKay added in a statement, “We think it’s wildly commercial and wildly artful. Our ambitions are to make a movie that ripples through popular culture, fashion, music and film.”
Stewart dives back into the vampire world
The film is Cosmatos and XYZ’s third collaboration. The first was with Mandy and are currently developing Nekrokosm with A24, a sci-fi fantasy love story set in a strange galaxy.
Academy Award-nominee Stewart was last seen in Love Lies bleeding released early this year by A24. She also had another film, the sci-fi drama Love Me with Steven Yeun. The actress has the upcoming comedy Sacramento with Maya Erskine and Michael Cera, directed by Michael Angarano.
This isn’t Stewart’s first foray into the vampire world. She had her breakthrough role in the Twilight trilogy, based on Stephenie Meyer’s young adult romance novels. She and Robert Pattinson starred in 2008’s Twilight, 2010’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 released in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
Primetime Emmy Award nominee Isaac was last seen in Marvel’s Moon Knight series on Disney+. The actor launched his production company with his wife, Elvira Lind. The company’s first project was the 2020 short film written and directed by Lind, The Letter Room. It was nominated for best live action short film at the 2021 Academy Awards.
Isaac also voiced Miguel O’Hara in the hit 2023 animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He’ll be reprising the role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The actor will next be seen in Julian Schnabel’s Hand of God and in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein as the titular doctor opposite Jacob Elordi.
