With or without Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers are having their mandatory minicamp, and one face the team must be so happy to see show up on Tuesday was wide receiver Davante Adams.

Like Rodgers, Adams also missed Green Bay's voluntary offseason workout along with several other players back in May, but he's now with the team in Wisconsin. Adams didn't seem to have participated in any activities on the field, though, with the Packers apparently being careful with their star wideout. After all, there's no real reason for them to push him into such activities this early in the offseason, considering that they pretty much know what they can get from him.

For Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, it's just all about making sure Adams is in good condition while giving the others a chance to show what they can bring to the team, per Zach Kruse of USA TODAY Sports.

“I think we’re just being smart with him. I think we’re all well aware the kind of player Tae is,” LaFleur said Tuesday. “There’s no doubt, I can tell he looks like he’s in really good shape right now. I think it’s just a better opportunity to allow some of these other guys to get reps, and see where they are.”

Davante Adams is set to enter the final year of his current contract. He is bound to become a free agent at the end of the 2021 NFL season, so a decision to be more careful with him in this offseason workouts is indeed an acceptable practical move by the Packers.
