The Green Bay Packers offense was noticeably shorthanded in Week 5 with the absence of wide receivers Randall Cobb and Geronimo Allison. Unfortunately, it appears that will be the case once again in Week 6.

Both Allison and Cobb were forced to miss due to concussions. According to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, they are still nursing their wounds this week:

Head coach Mike McCarthy said that Allison will be doing rehab work during Thursday’s practice because of a hamstring injury that was also an issue while he was dealing with his concussion. Allison, who missed last Sunday’s loss to the Lions, will be joined in the rehab group by wide receiver Randall Cobb.

The update is certainly a reason for concern. Fortunately, they will have an extra day to get treated with this week's game versus the San Francisco 49ers being featured on Monday night. Their presence was sorely missed by quarterback Aaron Rodgers versus the Detroit Lions last week.

The Packers offense got off to a disastrous start. Rodgers simply could not find any of his receivers and it led to them being shut out in the first half. Fortunately, they managed to pick up the slack in the second half to nearly spur a comeback.

Green Bay's loss versus Detroit proved just how desperate they are for a weapon outside of wide receiver Davante Adams who finished with nine receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. Although wide receivers Equanimeous St. Brown and Marquez Valdes-Scantling put up some solid numbers, it is clear that Rodgers is looking for much more consistency from this group.
