The Green Bay Packers recently hired quarterbacks coach Tom Clements. The hire is another ploy to attempt to keep Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky gave more insight on the hire during “Get Up” Friday morning.

He tweeted a clip of the new information he shared on the ESPN morning show.

Demovsky pointed out that Clements came back to coaching for this position after he announced his retirement in January of 2021.

“It comes down to this, a 68-year-old coach with no ties to Matt LaFleur or this coaching staff isn't coming out of retirement to coach Jordan Love, right?”

The Packers reporter added that although the hire could be very tempting for Rodgers, the quarterback has not made any decisions on his future place of employment.

“This is not a guarantee that Rodgers is coming back, just a hope that it's another thing that will convince him to do so,” Demovsky said.

Clements has a long history of coaching in the NFL, specifically with Rodgers and the Packers. He was the quarterbacks coach from 2006 to 2011 and worked with Rodgers during that time. The two won Super Bowl XLV together in 2011.

Clements spent 2012 to 2014 as Green Bay's offensive coordinator and spent his last two seasons with the Packers as their offensive coordinator from 2015 to 2016.

Recently, Rodgers gave partial credit to Clements in his development as a quarterback, and he has the opportunity to work with him again in the 2022-2023 season.
