Earlier this month, Buffalo Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin voiced some harsh criticism toward his former Carolina Panthers teammate quarterback Cam Newton bashing him for his ability to throw the ball accurately and intelligently.

In wake of that, Newton did approach Benjamin prior to the Bills and Panthers taking the field against each other last Thursday night but things were not resolved. It now appears the former league MVP may have thrown some subtle shade at his former teammate prior to a photo shoot by stating that he needs things to stay the same like a wall and not change on him.

“I mentioned it before but I am just going to tell you. I need things around me just like this wall. I know you are probably asking yourself “why this wall? It's just so basic. But it never changed on me. It is the same wall every single day. I like that. I need things and people around me just like this way. They ain't going to change. Same sound. Same color.”

This gives off the impression that Newton had no idea that Benjamin had those type of feelings toward him in any manner. These were likely pent-up emotions that Benjamin didn't air to his former teammate because he likely thought it would be disruptive.

At the same time, it does show that Newton thought he had a strong bond with Benjamin over the years together in Carolina. It doesn't appear that it was like that by any means between the two that may have just been on a one-sided viewpoint of their relationship on the field from Newton.

If anything, these latest comments add more clarity to the situation while potentially setting up for a response from Benjamin to add another chapter to this entire ordeal.
