Nick Saban, the legendary coach at Alabama, was discovered to have tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday. To begin his media session on Thursday morning, Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots reacted to Saban's positive test, per Phil Perry of NBC Sports Boston.

Saban and Bill Belichick have always had a close relationship off of the field, but they once coached together on the same team. Back when Belichick became the head coach of the Cleveland Browns in 1991, Saban was hired as his defensive coordinator.

Both of them would spend four seasons together in Cleveland before Saban became the head coach at Michigan State in 1995. Of course, Belichick would proceed to become the head coach of the Patriots after stints with New England and the New York Jets as an assistant coach.

Then, after their time together with the Browns, the two defensive-minded coaches would meet again when Saban accepted the head coaching job of the Miami Dolphins in 2005. However, just one year after joining the Dolphins, Saban left the team and chose to accept the head coaching gig at Alabama.

Despite Saban's early exit from Miami, he and Belichick have kept a close relationship off of the field. Seeing that they are both coaches that are known for defense, they tend to speak to each other about the intricacies of defensive schemes.

For the time being, Saban has been asymptomatic and has kept a positive attitude amid his positive COVID-19 test. Still, along with Belichick, we all hope Saban can make a speedy recovery and return to the sideline soon.
