Few know current Los Angeles Rams cornerback Aqib Talib better than longtime New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. Talib, a former member of the Patriots, will now be standing across from his former head coach come Sunday evening in Atlanta as the Rams will be battling it out with New England in Super Bowl LIII.

“He was great to coach,” Belichick said on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria on Monday. “He’s a great player and he’s very, very competitive. Ultra-competitive. You might [not] know a guy is competitive until you’re with him day-to-day and you can’t put an exact value on that, or qualify it.

“But, he’s at the very top in terms of competitors. I am sure he will play hard this week.”

It appears as though the two friends-turned-foes got along pretty well during Talib's time in New England as well.

“He’s funny. [Our conversations] were great,” the longtime NFL head coach added. “He would speak directly. There was no read between the lines. He was pretty clear.”

The 32-year-old defensive back spent just over one full season with the Patriots after coming over via trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during the 2012-13 campaign. A Super Bowl Champion as a member of the Denver Broncos, Talib began his career in Tampa Bay before moving on to New England, Denver and Los Angeles, respectively.

It is also worth noting that Talib spent the majority of this season, his first with the Rams, on the sideline due to a lingering injury.
