Tennessee Titans running back Dion Lewis was so pumped up after their 34-10 upset win over the New England Patriots at home last Sunday that he uttered some words that could easily be taken as a burn to his former team. After all, the Patriots decided to let Lewis walk away from them during this year’s free agency rather than give him the money he wanted so that he could stay put in Foxboro.

Some days later, Lewis was asked about his earlier comments, though, this time, he seemed to backtrack a bit, saying his scorching quote about New England was merely his Napoleonic Complex kicking in, per Jim Wyatt of TitansOnline.com.

“I’m a feisty guy, everybody knows that. I have to be that way, I’m (5-foot-7). So I have to carry an edge or chip, so that’s just how I am and that’s what’s gotten me to where I am. So it’s nothing personal, that’s just the type of person I am, the player I am.”

Against the Patriots, Lewis racked up 57 rushing yards on 20 carries and also added 11 receiving yards on two receptions. While those aren’t exactly scintillating numbers, the win was all that mattered for Lewis, who donned Patriots threads from 2015 to 2017.

The 28-year-old Lewis can use his aggressiveness this coming weekend when the Titans look to stitch together their third win in a row against the Indianapolis Colts on the road.
