Wide receiver Kenny Britt isn’t the only recent addition to the New England Patriots. Also joining the former Cleveland Browns wideout in the Pats’ fold is defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois, per Nora Princiotti of the Boston Globe.

Technically speaking, Francois isn’t exactly a new face to the Patriots, as he’s already appeared in three games and recorded two tackles for New England this season from Week 10 to 12, mainly serving as an insurance policy for the now injured reserved Dont’a Hightower.

Francois was waived by the Pats on Dec. 3, but the team came knocking at the door of the 31-year-old former LSU Tiger following Alan Branch's injury on Monday night, paving the way for a reunion. Prior to his first stint with New England, Francois played for six games for the Green Bay Packers.

To accommodate Francois on their active roster, the Patriots relegated right tackle Marcus Cannon to the injured reserve list because of an ankle injury that has kept him out since October.

New England’s front office has been busy of late,as the team prepares for an all-important matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A win over the Steelers this Sunday puts the Patriots in the number one spot in the AFC as they'd hold the tiebreaker for home-field advantage in the playoffs.
