New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is expected to play Sunday against the Miami Dolphins despite being listed as questionable with an ankle injury, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Gronkowski was also able to play last week against the Lions despite that ankle injury, which was not considered serious. Gronk was the team’s leading receiver in that defeat to Detroit as he had four catches for 51 yards.

Wide receiver Josh Gordon also has a “good chance” to make his Patriots debut against the Dolphins game after missing last week's game against the Lions with a hamstring injury.

New England needs all the offensive weapons it can get after struggling for the second week in a row. Tom Brady was limited to just 133 passing yards — his lowest total since 2015 — with one touchdown and one interception against the Lions.

Gronkowski has unsurprisingly been Brady’s go-to guy to start the season with Julian Edelman out due to suspension. He leads the team with 189 receiving yards on 13 catches with a touchdown over the first three games.

Opposing defenses have been keying in on Gronk in recent weeks, though, and are daring other Patriots playmakers to beat them. Brady recognizes this and wants to take advantage of all the attention on Gronkowski.

If Gordon still isn’t ready to go, Gronkowski will once again need to carry a significant load offensively as Brady’s top receiving option against the Dolphins. Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Cordarrelle Patterson, James White, and Sony Michel will also need to chip in.
