The New England Patriots made plenty of waves this offseason signing a large free agent class with plenty of notable names. Then they took their focus to the NFL Draft, where they selected Alabama quarterback Mac Jones in the first round. Now, it might be time to turn their focus to one of their own that's been with New England for a bit.

Stephon Gilmore hasn't minced words this offseason in wanting a new deal as he enters the final year of his current contract with the Patriots. Gilmore had a now deleted tweet to voice some of his frustrations and also skipped out on mandatory minicamp last month. Now, he's really opened up about his thoughts via Josina Anderson.

“I just want what I'm worth, however that plays out. Every player should be paid what they're worth. That’s just how it is.”

Anderson noted that while the Patriots top cornerback wasn't pushing for a trade during their conversation, he did want a resolution on the matter of his future and his next contract.

“Hopefully we can find some common ground & get it situated. I just know what I bring to the table & my style of play. Right now I'm just trying to focus on myself & make sure I'm good mentally & physically. I feel stronger than I’ve ever felt since the surgery. I’ve been running a lot, building full speed.”

Gilmore has made his side very clear for the Patriots. Now, it's on New England to figure out whether they let this year play out and let him head into free agency or if they want to work out a deal beneficial for both sides of the party.
