The New England Patriots are still without star cornerback Stephon Gilmore as he still holds out hope of a new contract. He did not attend minicamps and has been holding out from joining the team until there is some sort of resolution. On Tuesday, Gilmore responded to a tweet listing the top 10 highest-paid corners, taking exception to the fact his name is not on the list.

It is safe to say Gilmore is not at all pleased with the situation, especially considering he is one of the best corners in the NFL. The Patriots have yet to budge, and Gilmore has also yet to budge on any sort of middle ground regarding the contract.

To say Gilmore is worth at least $13.5 million– which is good for 10th on the list– is an understatement. In 2019 he had six interceptions for the Patriots and suited up in every game but underperformed a bit in 2020, hauling in just one pick and playing in 11 games.

Either way, Gilmore deserves to get paid, and it is very likely he could be on his way out from New England if the two sides refuse to come to an agreement of some sort. The situation regarding Gilmore will continue to be fluid until he is traded or signs a new contract.
