JJ Redick can become just the ninth player in NBA history to make the playoffs in his first 14 seasons in the league if the New Orleans Pelicans make the postseason in 2019-20.

Redick signed a two-year, $26.5 million contract with the Pelicans. The sharpshooter, who has played for the Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers, has never missed the playoffs.

The Pelicans are hoping Redick will be their good luck charm in 2019-20.

JJ Redick spent the past two seasons with the Sixers. He averaged 18.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists this past season while shooting 44.0 percent from the field, 39.7 percent from beyond the arc and 89.4 percent from the free-throw line.

The Pelicans can make the playoffs in 2019-20 after the moves they made this offseason. David Griffin got a great haul from the Los Angeles Lakers in the Anthony Davis trade by acquiring Lonzo Ball, Josh Hart, Brandon Ingram and three first round picks. New Orleans drafted Jaxson Haynes, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Marcos Louzada Silva in the 2019 NBA Draft with those three picks.

The Pelicans, of course, got the grand prize of the draft in Duke star Zion Williamson, and also acquired veteran center Derrick Favors from the Utah Jazz.

Redick is a career 41.3 percent shooter from the 3-point line. When Williamson, as well as Jrue Holiday and Ball, are driving toward the basket on Redick’s side of the floor, defenders won’t be able to leave Redick since he’s an elite shooter. That will allow Zion, Jrue and Lonzo to get to the basket with ease.

The Pelicans are going to be fun to watch in 2019-20.

Let's see if New Orleans can make the postseason and help Redick make history.
