Fans in Louisiana certainly won't be getting their money's worth on Sunday evening, as the hometown New Orleans Pelicans host the disappointing Los Angeles Lakers. With Lakers superstar forward LeBron James already being shut down for the remainder of the 2018-19 regular season, the Pelicans will now be without All-Star big man Anthony Davis for the matchup.

According to Pelicans head coach Alvin Gentry, the oft-injured Davis won't suit up against the Lakers due to some lingering back spasms.

Taking away from the season-long narrative that Anthony Davis would ultimately end up alongside the aforementioned LeBron James in Los Angeles, neither superstar will be on the court as the two lowly Western Conference franchises square off in New Orleans.

Neither the Pelicans nor the Lakers will be heading to the playoffs this time around, no thanks to the fact that Davis and James encountered lengthy stints on the sideline due to injury this season.

In Davis' case, the superstar big man has not suited up for NOLA since March 24, against the surging Houston Rockets. The lingering back spasms have kept Davis sidelined, though the team's status in the West has surely played a role in New Orleans' decision to play it safe with the franchise's best player.

As it stands today, the Pelicans sit in 12th place in the West standings and currently sport a dismal 32-45 record.
