Heading into this season, the New Orleans Pelicans had expectations on breaking through into the playoff picture in the stacked Western Conference.

However, All-Star big man Anthony Davis is quite confident that the Pelicans can develop into something special this season, according to William Guillory of NOLA.com.

“We're going to be a special team, we feel it,” said Pelicans forward Anthony Davis, before correcting himself. “We don't feel it, we know it.

New Orleans is coming off the heels of an impressive 123-101 win on the road over the Cleveland Cavaliers that has brought them to splitting the first six games. Granted, the Cavaliers are playing a bit shorthanded without the services of both Derrick Rose and Isaiah Thomas, it was more than encouraging outcome for them.

DeMarcus Cousins led the way with a triple-double of 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists. Meanwhile, Davis had a double-double with 30 points and a game-high 14 rebounds along with three blocks. On top of that, guards Jrue Holiday and Etwaun Moore combined for 53 points in the win.

The Pelicans have put together a formidable roster that has a chance to be a promising team led by their All-Star frontcourt duo. Keep in mind, Rajon Rondo will return at some point in the season that will add another dynamic to the fold. Ultimately, New Orleans does have a chance to become an intriguing team in the Western Conference come playoff time.
