It would be an ill-advised understatement to mention how good DeMarcus Cousins really is. This season, Cousins has averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 assists, and 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 steals, 1.6 blocks, and 2.2 three-pointers per game on 47-percent shooting. The Pelicans center has evolved in game in a way that has not been seen in the modern NBA. Cousins' style is unlike any other: he can score anywhere around the basket, post his opponents up, and shoot the mid-range jumper. He is also a tremendous rebounder, one of the best in his position. However, Cousins is an above-average 3-point shooter, an excellent passer, and a versatile defender.

With all of these skills, the Pelicans took a massive gut punch when Cousins tore his Achilles tendon against the Houston Rockets in January. Although Cousins will miss the entire regular season, he has already begun working out and getting back into top shape, even while wearing some vintage New Orleans Hornets shorts.

The hashtage “0DOUBT” shows Cousins commitment to getting back on the court fully inhibited by his Achilles injury. Meanwhile, the Pelicans are currently ranked eighth in the Western Conference. They will have to rely on their superstar power forward Anthony Davis to lead them to their first postseason appearance since 2015.

While the Pelicans are focused on winning, Cousins is focused on making his NBA return. Paul George, who suffered a devastating leg injury in 2014, is a recent example of a player who endured an unfortunate injury. George, of course, made a full recovery and is performing well for the Thunder. Hopefully, Cousins can do the same and return to the Pelicans even better than he previously was.
