The 2022 edition of the NBA Summer League has had a rather bizarre trend. Over the last few days, a few of the best rookies from this year's draft class have been in some major injury scares. Unfortunately, the New Orleans Pelicans suffered the same fate as some of their fellow teams in the league.

Highly-touted rookie Pelicans Dyson Daniels was helped off the court after an apparent ankle injury. The rookie struggled to get up after awkwardly falling on a layup attempt. Eventually, Daniels limped off the court, sparking more concerns about this year's draft class. (via ESPN Australia)

It's been a bizarre day during the Summer League, as two other lottery-pick rookies had injury scares after their game. Number one overall pick Paolo Banchero had a noticeable limp after the Magic's thrilling Sudden Death game. On the other hand, Jaden Ivey had to be helped off the court as the fourth overall pick also fell awkwardly.

The Pelicans are counting on Daniels to have an immediate impact on their roster. The Aussies' long frame and switchability on defense makes him a perfect partner for Zion Williamson. He'll be joining a Pels roster that was one of the biggest overachievers of the 2022 playoffs. They are hoping that their success last season will lead to deeper run in 2023.

Hopefully, Daniels' injury isn't that serious. The Pelicans rookie seemed genuinely excited to play with his new team, even going so far as to give a stern warning to the league in a recent interview.
