New Orleans Pelicans point man Lonzo Ball will share the court with Zion Williamson, another highly touted college product who is expected to make waves in the NBA. The No. 1 overall selection has been hailed as the best incoming prospect since LeBron James, a heavy torch to carry considering the sheer amount of talent in the league.

One would expect Ball, who spent his first two seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, to have some words of wisdom for Williamson, especially dealing with the high expectations. However, the third-year point guard noted Zion is in a completely different situation than his:

“These are two totally different situations,” Ball told Shams Charania of The Athletic. “It didn’t go the way we wanted to the first year in L.A., then LeBron (James) came, all the injuries happened and that really messed up the second year. Here, we have Zion, Jrue (Holiday), JJ (Redick), D. Fav (Derrick Favors), all the guys that came with me in B.I. and J. Hart, so we have a lot of guys that can play. I’m trying to do my part.”

Williamson is expected to be the savior of the franchise, which in large is a much taller cross to bear. But Zion has taken it very humbly and simmered his personal expectations while already spreading hope for his team — something that has quickly endeared him to New Orleans.

The Duke product is also replacing Anthony Davis only months after his departure to the Lakers, but doing so in a smaller market without the incessant media pressure to perform and with the right supporting crew to help nurture him into becoming the team's next star.
