Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans will likely form a backcourt tandem with Jrue Holiday in the years to come. Ball has had a chance to play alongside Holiday and spoke his experience playing with the defensive stalwart.

Per Pelicans reporter Jim Eichenhofer, Ball noted that just like Holiday, he likes to play defense. Given this, they'll be a formidable defensive duo in the backcourt for the Pelicans.

“It’s great,” Ball said of getting to play with Holiday during voluntary workouts. “You can tell the game comes easy to him. I like to play defense; he does as well. We can switch off (on opposing guards) and try to lock people up.

Much has been said about Ball's supreme vision and innate basketball intelligence. But in his first two years in the league, critics and colleagues have highlighted his defensive efforts as well.

From a broader perspective, Ball believes that the Pelicans have all the tools to succeed. It's just a matter of exerting the effort to playing together.

“(As a team) we can do a lot of switching. We’ve got height, strength and speed. We’ve got everything you need to be a good defensive team. Now we’ve just got to put in effort. We have all the pieces we need. We’ve got shooters, bigs, people who can push the pace. I’m looking forward to this year.”

The Pelicans might have lost Anthony Davis over the summer. But they have a pretty deep roster in the upcoming 2019-20 season. Fans shouldn't fret about their team's chances in the years to come.
