The New Orleans Pelicans have teased the comeback of Zion Williamson before their matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Williamson has missed the first 34 games of the season because of the torn meniscus he suffered back in October. Williamson is believed to be fully healed from the surgery he had on his knee and has, in fact, already participated in practices.

The 2019 top overall pick of the 2019 draft has generated plenty of hype around him ever since he was in college. Zion has come into this league with high expectations, as he is expected to fill Anthony Davis’ shoes and become the Pelicans' next star and face of the franchise.

During the preseason, Williamson averaged 23.3 points and 6.5 rebounds. He showed star potential in the four games he played in, impressing the crowd with his power and high-flying exploits

Entering Friday's showdown with the Lakers, the Pelicans stand 14th in the Western Conference with an 11-23 record, though they are only four games behind the eighth seed.

With Williamson expected to return to the lineup this January, Pelicans fans are certainly hoping that the team can stage a run for the lower playoff seeds. However, New Orleans is expected to ease Zion back into the lineup n a bid to get him to NBA shape while preventing him from aggravating his injury.

The Pelicans will be playing two consecutive games starting with the Lakers on Friday and the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.  After that, the team will be playing the Utah Jazz at home on Monday night — which could possibly be Zion Williamson's first regular-season game in the NBA.
