The New Orleans Pelicans racked up another victory on Friday night, as they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 116-104 in the Smoothie King Center. This win was thanks in large part to another efficient performance from Pelicans rookie sensation Zion Williamson, who finished with 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting, along with three rebounds, a couple of assists, and two steals in 30 minutes of action.

Williamson was one point short of what would have been his fifth consecutive 25-point game, but as it turns out, his four-game streak of at least 25 points while shooting at least 58 percent from the floor was enough to match a scoring feat earlier achieved by no less than the great Michael Jordan.

Upon learning about his most recent accolade, the 19-year-old Pelican could barely believe that he was mentioned in the same breath as the Chicago Bulls legend.

“Mike?!” an incredulous Williamson said, via Andrew Lopez of ESPN.

“Chico, my name's next to Michael Jordan?”

Williamson has been on a scoring tear of late, averaging 28.2 points per contest over his last six games, while shooting a highly-efficient 58.9 percent from the field. The former Duke standout then went on to admit that it is an absolute honor for him to even be in the same sentence as Jordan.

“I mean, it's dope. I can't even lie,” Williamson said. “One of my favorite players growing up. I said in some interview, my mom told me to study film of him so to be in that category, it means a lot.”

It may have taken a long time before we finally got a glimpse of the Pelicans' first overall pick, but at this point, it would be safe to say that the extended wait has been well worth it.
