Zion Williamson's NBA regular season debut for the New Orleans Pelicans has dominated headlines over the past week — and for good reason. The 2019 No. 1 overall pick was one of the most exciting and dominant prospects in recent memory coming out of Duke.

After missing the first 44 games of the season, the 6-foot-6, 285-pound phenom made his NBA debut against the San Antonio Spurs.

Williamson showed exactly why he was so hyped coming of college against San Antonio, going on a fourth-quarter run for the Pelicans that saw the rookie score 15 straight points.

Williamson's impressive stretch earned him MVP chants from the crowd inside the Smoothie King Center.

Despite a four-point loss to the Spurs, Zion showed out in his debut and finished with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists in just 18 minutes of action.

Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Williamson shot an efficient 8-11 from the field and 4-4 from beyond the 3-point arc — far from the comments that he is just a dunker gifted with insane athleticism.

It's only the beginning for Zion Williamson and he has to endure the demands of the long season, but so far, so good.
