New York Mets' first baseman Pete Alonso comes in as the favorite to win the Derby once again. The two-time back-to-back champ is ready to become the first ever to win three-straight Home Run Derbys. Alonso is the fourth player to win the event multiple times, joining Ken Griffey Jr., Prince Fielder, and Yoenis Cespedes.

Alonso is more than just a home run hitter in 2022. He's been on an MVP level this year as he leads all of baseball with 74 RBIs. The slugger is tied for 5th with 24 home runs on the year and has an OPS of .871 — good for 18th in the majors.

Even though Alonso is the reigning 2x champ, he will be the 2-seed of eight contestants. The remaining contestants are Kyle Schwarber, Albert Pujols, Juan Soto, Jose Ramirez, Corey Seager, Julio Rodriguez, and Ronald Acuna Jr. Alonso will have a tough challenge in the first round as he will go up against Acuna Jr.

Acuna Jr. started the year on the injured list but has done wonders since returning to the Atlanta Braves. Since his return, the team has been one of the better teams in baseball and they should continue to keep it rolling. Acuna Jr. has just eight home runs on the year but is batting .270.

2022 MLB Home Run Derby Odds: Pete Alonso

FanDuel has Pete Alonso winning the derby at (+185) odds. If you were to consider taking the field, that would be at (-250). The fact that that number isn't higher, shows the confidence they have in Alonso winning once again. Alonso said it best himself, he was born to compete in these derbies.

For the first round, Alonso has (-200) odds to take down Acuna Jr. The starting outfielder for the National League currently sits at (+165) to take down the champ.

The payout for taking Alonso to win the derby outright is beneficial as taking him per round could be costly. This is a tough and exciting field to watch compete in the 2022 MLB Home Run Derby. Let's see if Alonso has what it takes to win once again.
