The Detroit Pistons have the 15th overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft, the first outside of the lottery.

With this pick, Detroit is looking to fill in a void that has been a problem for the franchise over the past couple of years, as hinted by big man Andre Drummond.

“I think we’re in the hunt for a wing, a tall wing,” Drummond said per Chris Nelsen of The Detroit Free Press. “There are a couple guys we’re keying on. We’ll see what they do in the workouts and predraft.”

Drummond, unfortunately, kept mum and did not disclose any other information or profile of who or which specific players they are targeting for their upcoming draft workouts. Nonetheless, good job scouting by the former All-Star big man.

The Pistons have been horrible with their draft picks over the past few years. One of those high-profile players is Stanley Johnson, who was selected 8th overall by the Pistons in 2015. Obviously, this experiment has expired, Johnsons was shipped out of Motor City to the New Orleans Pelicans last season.

Detroit entered the 2019 playoffs as major underdogs against Milwaukee, which finished with the best record in the league. And true enough, they were swept off the floor as the Bucks proved to be too much for these Pistons. In fact, they were blown out for each game of the series as well.

Detroit's core includes a rejuvinated forward Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond, and Reggie Jackson. A young addition to the roster, perhaps an athletic young wing, can certainly help them, at least, make the postseason again.
