The Dwane Casey era with the Detroit Pistons is in full swing. Bruce Brown, to some degree, will be part of it.

They may not be making big splashes in free agency (and one could argue that this might be the time to strike with the LeBron James monopoly no longer a road block) but the Motor City has been quietly putting together a solid supporting cast to complement the Andre Drummond-Blake Griffin dynamic duo.

Some of the Pistons moves recently have been the reunion with point guard Jose Calderon (his second stint) to stretch the floor and serve as a dependable backup in case Reggie Jackson is sidelined again and Ish Smith is thrust into the starting line-up by default, as well as adding former Slam Dunk Contest winner Glenn Robinson III in an already crowded swingman rotation.

To clear up space, the team had to waive guard Dwight Buycks, preventing his contract from being fully guaranteed. Buycks is reportedly headed to Europe once he clears waivers.

As for their draft picks, the Pistons locked up their 2019 second round pick Bruce Brown.

The 6-foot-5 combo guard is currently playing for the Pistons Summer League and while they are 0-2 in the standings, Brown is one of the few bright spots – averaging 10.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and a pair of assists per game (good for second on the team in all categories).

Besides his slashing and athleticism, the primary reason as to why the Boston native was drafted is because of his defensive versatility. The Pistons were one of the worst defensive teams in the league last season and they are hoping that Brown's moxie would help fortify their toughness in the wing.
