Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose is garnering trade interest from a few teams with the trade deadline looming, most notably the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.

However, the Pistons could keep the former MVP in The Motor City.

According to Sam Smith of Bulls.com, Pistons management and ownership sees Rose as a veteran they can begin to build with:

The larger issue is Pistons management (Derrick Rose's former agent) and ownership sees Rose as a veteran they can begin to build with because he's appealing to fans and helps attendance while the team can likely begin to move on from Drummond and perhaps see Griffin fade away because of injuries.

Rose is averaging 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists this season for Detroit. He’s shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 31.0 percent from beyond the arc and 86.8 percent from the free-throw line.

The vice chairman of the Pistons is Arn Tellem, who was Rose’s agent before. Odds are the front office will have discussions with Rose and his camp before anything goes down.

Rose has started the last four games for the Pistons after he asked for an extended role with more minutes last week. The Chicago native has scored at least 20 points in 10 straight games and is averaging 21.7 points over his last 15 games.

The Pistons are 17-28 on the season. They are in ninth place in the Eastern Conference standings, two games behind the struggling Brooklyn Nets for the No. 8 seed.
