The Detroit Pistons' appetite to acquire superstar point guard Russell Westbrook is “lukewarm,” according to Vincent Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.

The Pistons, along with the Miami Heat and Houston Rockets, have been mentioned as possible landing spots for Westbrook, who is expected to be traded by the Oklahoma City Thunder before the 2019-20 season starts.

Detroit could hypothetically trade Reggie Jackson, Tony Snell and Luke Kennard for Westbrook, but it doesn't look the Pistons are aggressively pursuing a trade to acquire the former MVP.

The appetite to obtain Westbrook is lukewarm, according to multiple persons familiar with the Pistons front office’s thinking, even though the franchise readily acknowledges the talent that makes Westbrook one of the best point guards in the league.

Russell Westbrook has four years remaining on his contract. Despite being a walking triple-double, teams are supposedly hesitant to trade for Westbrook since he's got a lot of money left on his deal. The eight-time All-Star will make $47,063,478 when he's 33-years-old during the 2022-23 season.

The short-term benefits for the Pistons in regards to acquiring Westbrook are they would have a lethal Big 3 of Westbrook, Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. In a wide-open Eastern Conference, Detroit could make some serious noise with that All-Star trio.

It remains to be seen when the Thunder are going to trade Westbrook, who has averaged a triple-double three seasons in a row.

For now, it doesn't look like the Pistons are actively pursuing a Westbrook trade.
