There has been a whole lot of trade chatter surrounding Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, so much so that Carr has played along with a series of cryptic Instagram posts showing him playing against teams in need of a signal-caller.

On Tuesday, Raiders general manager Mike Mayock addressed the situation with a rather cryptic quote himself:

“Derek played at a high level last season. I'm very happy with Derek,” said Mayock, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. “But as I've said before, we will evaluate every position on our roster and if there's a chance to upgrade, we will look into that.”

So, basically, Mayock is alright with going into 2020 with Carr under center, but that he will be looking for alternatives during the offseason.

This is not the first time there has been trade speculation concerning Carr.

Last offseason, some questioned whether or not the Raiders would move on from him after a rather disappointing 2018 campaign, but Mayock and head coach Jon Gruden squelched the rumors by saying they were committed to Carr.

But now, Mayock seems to be leaving the door open, which is something that he didn't really do a year ago.

Carr is coming off a season in which he threw for 4,054 yards, 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 70.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 100.8.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Fresno State, was originally selected by the Raiders in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft and has been the club's starting quarterback ever since.
