Multiple lawsuits have taken the NFL by storm this year. First, ex-Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden made some ill-advised comments that came to light, which resulted in his ousting from the position. Gruden then fired back at the NFL with a lawsuit, alleging that the NFL intended to “destroy his career and reputation.” Later on in the year, a bombshell lawsuit emerged when former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores accused the NFL of racial discrimination during the head coach hiring process. The two lawsuits had little to do with each other, until Gruden's strong comments aimed at NFL commissioner Roger Goodell invoked the Flores lawsuit, as reported by NBC Sports.

“These statements were nothing more than hollow corporate speak when made on January 19, 2022, but they appear quite foolish now after the torrent of revelations against the NFL and [Roger Goodell] that have recently come to light,” Gruden’s lawyers write.

Ex-Raiders head coach Jon Gruden called out Roger Goodell and the NFL for appearing to be “quite foolish” after the revelations laid out by Brian Flores in his lawsuit against the league. Gruden is referring to the statement made by the NFL in which they said they were committed to “rooting racism, sexism, and homophobia” from the league.

The former Raiders head coach is arguing that the NFL was hypocritical to make the point that they made against his case, then effectively look the other way when it comes to Flores' lawsuit.

It's certainly an interesting point and one that will likely pick up steam with the NFL likely to respond to the Flores lawsuit soon.
