Oakland Raiders star Khalil Mack continues to no-show preseason, which has now seen his fines reach over $1 million. And with the regular season just a couple weeks away, it doesn’t seem like his holdout is going to end anytime soon.

But Raiders coach Jon Gruden isn’t giving up hope yet. Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Gruden replied to Peter King’s question about whether Mack will show up by saying, “Hope so. Working on it.”

Although, Gruden also confirmed that he there has been no communication of late between him and Mack.

“I have not been able to lately, sure haven’t,” Gruden said. “It’s been frustrating, been tough. Hoping for the best.”

A month ago, Gruden made a promise in front of Raiders fans that he’ll find a way to get Mack back. But with no communication with Mack or his camp, it doesn’t seem as if he’s anywhere close to fulfilling that promise at the moment.

It remains unclear what the Raiders’ plans for Mack actually are if they are unwilling to even sit down and negotiate with their defensive star. Their lack of communication likely isn't due to them waiting for Aaron Donald and the Rams to get their deal done, which doesn't make much sense on their part.

At this point, only time will tell whether Gruden and the Raiders really do have a plan or if they’re just saying stuff to appease the fanbase. Unfortunately, all Raiders fans can do is wait and see how this whole saga plays out.
