Mark Davis and the Las Vegas Raiders were fined $500,000 on Thursday for violating the NFL's COVID-19 protocols. The team also lost a sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft, while head coach Jon Gruden was fined $150,000.

During an interview with Paul Gutierrez of ESPN on Friday, Davis said the Raiders are absolutely going to appeal the fines.

“The fines are draconian,” the Raiders boss said. “But we will appeal them.

“Outside the organization, people have the wrong impression about the Raiders. We take it seriously. It's unfortunate that certain things outside the protocol are the things being focused on, rather than the positive steps we've taken as an organization. You've been in the building. You've seen it. Jon and those guys are working their asses off every day. But at the same time, (the NFL) feels we've failed some of those mandates.”

The Raiders and Gruden just can't seem to stay out of trouble with the NFL.

Las Vegas was fined $250,000 and Gruden was docked $100,000 after the energetic coach didn't wear a mask properly during the Raiders' Week 2 home opener against the New Orleans Saints, a game Gruden and Co. won by a final score of 34-24.

Las Vegas was also fined $50,000 for allowing a non-credentialed employee into the Allegiant Stadium locker room following that game.
